Games are getting more expensive!

The average price of video games last year was £25.63, MCV reports and that represents a 5.4 percent increase year-on-year.

The average cost of games was £24.32 in 2010 and just £22.69 a year earlier. Specialists, generalists and independents increased prices the most last year, followed by supermarkets and online.

According to MCV, the main reasons for the rise in average prices were fourth quarter blockbusters like Call of Duty and FIFA not being subject to heavy discounting like they were in previous years, and increasingly slow sales of budget titles, mainly for Wii and DS.
